ગાંધીજીની વર્ષગાંઠની ઉજવણીની સિલસિલાવાર તવારીખ રજૂ કરતા લેખો અને અહેવાલોમાંથી તૈયાર થયેલું આ પુસ્તક તેમની હયાતીમાં ઉજવાતા તેમના જન્મદિવસનો અનેરો મહિમા રજૂ કરી ગાંધી મૂલ્યનું પુનઃસ્થાપન કરે છે.‌

આ અપ્રસિદ્ધ પત્રને સંભારણારૂપે પ્રગટ કરતું પુસ્તક એટલે શોધકર્તા રીઝવાન કાદરી દ્વારા સંપાદિત ‘મહાત્માનો આત્મા’. જેમાં મહાદેવભાઈ વિષે ગાંધીજીના સ્વહસ્તે લખાયેલ સંભારણાં ગુજરાતી અને અંગ્રેજી એમ બંને ભાષામાં આલેખાયા છે.
 

સન્ 1866માં લંડનથી પ્રસિદ્ધ થયેલા એક ગ્રંથમાં અમદાવાદની એ સમયની તસવીરો આલેખાયેલી છે, જ્યારે અમદાવાદની વસ્તી એક લાખની આસપાસ હતી. શહેર ફક્ત કોટ વિસ્તારમાં જ સીમિત હતું.
